Job Description

TITLE: Preschool Teacher

Overview: This is a full-time position working with children ages 2 ½ to 5 years in the preschool room of our Early Achiever’s accredited center.

We are looking for a teacher who is well organized, detail oriented, creative, patient and has a strong ability to multi-task! As a preschool teacher, you will provide opportunities in experiential learning, collaborate with other teachers in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum, encourage children’s social and emotional development, and instill a sense of wonder and excitement about learning and creativity. Our teachers use positive guidance methods that strengthen each child’s problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to children’s physical and emotional safety using best practices.
  • Be familiar with State Licensing Requirements and Early Achiever’s Standards.
  • Develop collaborative and cooperative relationships with families and staff.
  • Work with fellow teachers to provide continuity and consistency for the children.
  • Planning developmentally appropriate activities within an emergent curriculum and maintain documentation as needed.
  • Be committed to professional development.
  • Maintain yearly required STARS training hours
  • Participate in self, classroom and center-wide evaluation processes.
  • Organize and maintain classroom areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • One year experience working with children of a similar age
  • Working knowledge of child development ages 30 months–5 years
  • 30 hours STARS Basic training
  • Proven initiative and accountability
  • Must be in good physical health and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ college credits in Early Childhood Education/Child Development
  • OR a CDA credential
  • OR a WA state Initial Certification
  • Be knowledgeable of basic computer and portable device technology
  • Two or more years of experience working in a preschool classroom setting

Upon Hire:

  • Current state approved infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
  • Proof of negative Mantoux TB Test within the last 12 months
  • HIV/AIDS & Blood Borne Pathogens training certification
  • Completion of minimum STARS required training
  • Food Handler’s Permit
  • WA State Department of Early Learning Portable Background Check

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.00 to $18.00 /hour DOE
