Programs

Interlake has three programs – Infants (2 to 15 months), Toddlers (16 to 30 months), and Preschoolers (2 ½ to 5 years).

Infant Program
Licensed for 8 spaces, we have a child-to-caregiver maximum ratio of 4:1. Each child is assigned a primary caregiver to ensure even more personal attention as well as a closer bond between parents and the program. Babies follow their own eating, sleeping and playing schedules. Teachers are sensitive to each child’s routines, temperament and development and they collaborate with you to meet your child’s changing needs.

Curriculum opportunities are focused on helping infants to develop their large and small muscle, problem solving and self help skills. Teachers use both speech and sign language with the babies to aid their cognitive, social and emotional development. As infants grow older, we adapt our curriculum to suit their changing needs and abilities.

Toddler Program
Licensed for 12 spaces we maintain a child-to-caregiver ratio of 4:1. The toddlers’ daily schedule includes: morning snack at 9:15, lunch at 11:45 and afternoon snack at 3:30. Naptime begins about noon. During the day, toddlers play outside and indoors. The daily routine includes a variety of activities: sensory, stories, art, music, dramatic play, puzzles and manipulatives.

Each toddler has a primary small group teacher and receives loving care from all of our teachers. Our dedicated teachers give toddlers the modeling, support and lovingly applied limits they need to begin learning how to become speech expressive, respectful, socially and emotionally self-guided members of a community of their peers.

Preschool Program
Licensed for 28 spaces, we maintain a child-to-caregiver ratio of 7:1. The daily schedule includes a variety of projects: science, math, music, sensory, art, cooking, dramatic play and language arts. Other than at mealtimes and some story times, Preschoolers are divided into small groups between the two classrooms and outdoor area. Each preschooler belongs to a language arts group of age mates, with that group’s primary teacher. Multi-age choices provide the children opportunities for them to be mentored by older preschoolers and in turn mentor younger ones.

Our program equips children to be vigorous, open minded learners able to work on their own and with others. Such projects as building robots or making a rainforest may stretch across days or weeks – involving collaboration with many kids.
