2011 Annual Giving Campaign Fact Sheet

This year Interlake inaugurated its Annual Giving Campaign. In the past, Interlake used a variety of transactional fundraising methods, such as selling wreaths and Chinook Books. To increase fundraising opportunities, Interlake shifted to an Annual Giving Campaign, during which members of the Interlake Community were asked to make an investment in the Center. With the help of dozens of volunteers, we kicked off the Campaign during the auction on April 9 and brought it to a close on June 30.

While we did not meet our overall fundraising goal of $40,000, the Annual Giving Campaign was certainly a success. Interlake broadened its circle of contributors to include alumni and relatives, fully funded the staff bonus, and made the transition to a new fundraising approach. We also now have funds to make important improvements to the Interlake facility, such as additional ventilation and lighting. We hope to build on this success next year.

Here’s a breakdown of this year’s Campaign:

Interlake’s overall fundraising goal was $40,000, consisting of:

  • $15,000 for the Staff Bonus Campaign;
  • $12,000 to improve the Interlake facility; and
  • $13,000 to build the relocation fund.

Interlake raised a net total of $27,811.00 from the following sources:

  • $11,581 from the auction, after accounting for expenses such as food;
  • $4,273 from Fund-a-Need, all of which went toward the Annual Giving Campaign (the paddle-raising portion of the auction); and
  • $11,907 in donations from current families, alumni families, relatives, friends, and neighbors, including $4,000 from board members. We also received $50.00 from PCC for Scrip Cards purchased by our families. How funds will be spent:

  • $15,000 for staff bonuses. As in the past, staff will receive bonuses at the end of the calendar year.
  • Roughly $11,000 for improving the electrical system, installing vents, and adding lighting. The number is approximate because the board is still gathering bids from contractors.
